As partners to deliver the new Google Career Certificate in Cybersecurity, we are excited to continue our mission of empowering individuals around Canada with the necessary knowledge and skills to prosper in our digital world by providing 1000 scholarships covering the tuition of this certificate.
The Google Cybersecurity Certificate will teach learners how to identify common cybersecurity risks, threats, and vulnerabilities, as well as the techniques to mitigate them. This certificate program is open to anyone who wants to enter the field of cybersecurity– no prior experience or specific knowledge is required! All you need is an interest in solving puzzles and helping others. This certificate program is offered completely online and asynchronously so it's flexible enough to fit your life: there’s no need to show up to a classroom in person and you can access the instructional videos, reading material, and assignments anytime and anywhere via the web or a mobile device. The program has been designed so that completion of the material can happen in under 6 months.
Canada Learning Code is actively seeking scholarship applicants from Canadian job seekers who are age 17 or older. We especially encourage, and will prioritize, applications from learners who have been historically underrepresented in tech, particularly Black, Indigenous and other Racialized learners, learners who are women and/or beyond the gender binary, people in low-income communities and newcomer learners.
The concept of personal identity can be extremely varied and complex, especially when considering the intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, economic class, sexuality and disability.
We know that these categories reflect many diverse identities and that our community members may not necessarily apply the terminology that we've used to identify themselves. For example, Black people are not a homogenous group and many may identify as Afro-Caribbean or African-Canadian rather than Black, folks who with disabilities may not all identify themselves using the same labels, and so on. We are collecting this information so that we can have a broad understanding of how we are serving the communities to whom we have made a specific commitment— that in order to change the future of tech, we must focus on Canadians who have been historically underrepresented in the technology sector.
