Kids Learning Code Lands in Vancouver

By

You asked for workshops for your boys, Vancouver, and we heard you.

Over the years, we’ve hosted a myriad of successful Girls Learning Code events in Vancouver. Parents have been more than happy to bring their girls, give them exposure to coding and game making and create conversations about the lack of women in the industry.

We are proud that Girls Learning Code has created a safe, comfortable, and, most importantly, fun environment in which to promote girls’ interest in tech and coding long before they reach adulthood. After all, it is in their adolescence that they’re able to explore and develop ideas of what they are capable of later in life!

We believe that not only is it powerful for women to see a woman leading a coding workshop — so too is it powerful for men to support their female colleagues in their professional endeavours.

The same thing goes for our youth workshops. It is a very powerful thing for children of all identities and walks of life to learn about technology together and from each other at an early stage in life.

Ergo, we’ve launched Kids Learning Code in Vancouver!

Kids Learning Code is a workshop format that is similar to the Girls Learning Code workshops, without the limitation of having only girls at the workshops. With the addition of boys at the event, it makes it possible to begin these conversations of ability and equality at a much younger age. It also helps make our accessible, innovative, fun workshops available to all the other parents with sons who would like to join in the fun.

We hope you’re able to come out to the Kids Learning Code workshops with sons and daughters, nephews and nieces, or random children from your neighbourhood (with appropriate permission, of course) and help us achieve our mission of making digital skills daily accessible to everyone.
