In today’s ever-evolving labour market, many career paths are no longer a straight line. They are windy paths that increase your capacity for change, creativity and adaptability. This 60-minute workshop will explore the new normal: non-linear careers characterized by shifts in industries and rapid skills development. Through scenario based learning and reflection, participants will learn how to build a career compass and have confidence in it. From embracing uncertainty to trusting your decision-making ability, the career compass is your tool to feel empowered in your career, ready to navigate change and welcome diverse work experiences.

Chi-Chi Egbo is an award-winning career development leader, mentor, speaker and change-maker. She has ten years of experience in career development, career coaching, program development and team design. Through working in senior and leadership people-focused positions in academia and tech, her expertise has helped over 1,000 people launch new careers and guided startups, global organizations and government agencies on hiring and talent management strategies. After taking a career break, Chi-Chi founded Workthrough—a career engagement and HR consultancy at the intersection of employee experience and professional development—because she believes everyone deserves meaningful career experiences.

This event is open to all adults 18+, designed in a way that seeks to explicitly welcome people with underrepresented genders—this includes cis women, trans women, trans men, non-binary people, and others who are marginalized because of their gender identity or expression. We believe that addressing the gender gap in tech is just one part of building digital equity. A more just and equitable future for technology in Canada means building programming that supports, empowers, and equips all learners who historically have been—and continue to be—underrepresented in tech, particularly Black, Indigenous and other Racialized learners, people in low-income communities and newcomer learners.
