Our mission is to equip, educate and empower canadians to thrive in our increasingly digital and global economy.

By 2027, we will provide 10 million Canadians access to meaningful technology education experiences.

Canada Learning Code will drive the development and implementation of an action plan to create 10 million meaningful technology education experiences for Canadians over the next 10 years. Through program design and delivery, strategic industry and public partnerships, educator training, research, advocacy and awareness we aim to unify coding education in Canada and drive results.

We Believe...

Every Canadian should have the opportunity to build - not just consume technology.

Every young person should have the opportunity to learn computational thinking and other critical 21st century skills.

Computer science should be part of the core curriculum, alongside other courses like science, history or math.

Diversity is Canada’s strength. Women, girls, people with disabilities, indigenous youth and newcomers should be given equal opportunity to build our future.

Technology can level the educational playing field, creating far-reaching opportunities for all members of our society to develop their talents into skills that will drive innovation.

Technology can change the world!

The Week

In celebration of Canada’s 150th Anniversary, Canada Learning Code will officially launch with a week-long celebration in the Spring of 2017. During Canada Learning Code Week, Canadians will assemble in schools, libraries, friendship centres, museums, and other community gathering places to hear from local storytellers and history-keepers and learn about the history of Canada. Then, they will come together for a technology education workshop where they will learn how to bring these stories to life, digitally.

By teaching Canadians the skills of the future, we believe that we are tapping into the same pioneering energy that built Canada to inspire Canadian youth to assume the mantle of building a strong, vibrant, and inclusive Canada through the next 150 years.
